چکیده
Abstract The determination of the earth pressure coefficients (K) in geotechnical engineering is one most critical procedures designing retaining walls. However, theories are made for either clay or sands, where c-ϕ soils least analysed. In this paper, an analysis drained mixed based Mazindrani and Ganjali (J Geotech Geoenviron Eng 123:110–112, 1997) theory was carried out. Earth generally used a deterministic way can represent designs under inadmissible risk. Therefore, Reliability-based design arises as essential tool to deal with soil variability main aspects uncertainties. influence active performed through probabilistic concerning K coefficient variation (Cv) both shear strength parameters. sensitivity shows Cv which cohesion begins have more significant correlation than friction angle. results show increase statistical value slope (β) increase. Although does not significantly, on gravity walls sheet pile probability failure (p f ) p obtained be considered even if required FS met.

eart pressure problems are encountered in retaining walls, bulkheads, sheeting and bracing in cuts, culverts, tunnels, and cofferdams. in many cases, the lateral pressure is determined by use of classical earth pressure theories, such as coulomb's, where the equilibrium conditions of a failure wedge of soil is considered. excessive dynamic lateral earth pressure on retaining structures resu...
متن کاملactive earth pressure on inclined retaining walls in static and pseudo-static conditions
inclined retaining walls with slopes less than perpendicular are appropriate candidates in several engineering problems. yet, to the knowledge of authors, only a few analytical solution for calculation of active earth pressure on such walls, which will be usually smaller than the same pressure on vertical ones, has been presented neither in research papers nor in design codes. considering limit...
متن کاملDistribution of lateral active earth pressure on a rigid retaining wall under various motion modes
The design of retaining walls depends on the magnitude of active pressure exerted from the backfill. Therefore, estimating the scale of this pressure is a fundamental factor in the design. In this study, to assess the active earth pressure, a rigid retaining wall was built capable of translating and/or rotating with adjustable speed. Further, several physical tests were conducte...
